Maria João Pires da Rosa holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (1996), by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, and a PhD on Industrial Management (2003), by the University of Aveiro. She is as an Associate Professor at the Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism Department of the University of Aveiro, where has been teaching different curricular units, such as Quality Management, Advanced Techniques of Quality Management, Statistical Techniques and Operations Management. She is a senior researcher at CIPES (Centre for Research in Higher Education Policies) and a researcher at GOVCOPP (Competitiveness, Governance and Public Policies). Her main research topics lie in the area of quality management, with a special focus on the higher education sector. She has been involved in different competitive research projects and has publications in relevant journals in the field. She is co-editor of a number of international in the area of higher education and quality. She is the Secretary General of CHER – Consortium for Higher Education Researchers; a member of EAIR – The European Higher Education Society; and an associate member of the APQ (The Portuguese Association for Quality).
