Vitor Rodrigues is a Researcher in Tourism at the University of Aveiro. He holds a PhD in Tourism and a Master's degree in Tourism Management and Planning from the same institution. His professional experience includes roles as Professor at the Escola de Turismo e Hotelaria Douro-Lamego, tourism consultant at Quinta da Avessada, and tourism technician at the City Council of Mealhada. He has worked as a research fellow in two notable projects: the ARTUR project (2019-2022), which explored the impact of air quality on the competitiveness of tourism destinations, in collaboration with the research units of GOVCOPP and CESAM; and the DOUROTUR project (2016-2019), focused on Tourism and Technological Innovation in the Douro region, under the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro’s research unit CETRAD. Vitor’s research interests include Chinese outbound tourism, the meetings industry, tourism governance, digital transformation, Tourism 4.0, and smart tourism. His work has been published in several international journals, and he has presented at numerous international conferences. He has been recognized with two awards, including the “Outstanding Research” award at the TMS Algarve 2022 International Conference on Tourism and Management Studies and the “Best Student Paper” (co-authored with Mariana Martins) at the Regional Helix ’22 International Conference.
