Áurea Rodrigues is an Assistant Professor (Department of Sociology) at the University of Évora and researcher affiliated to the CIDEHUS (Interdisciplinary Centre for History, Culture and Societies). She has a PhD in Tourism (2012) awarded by Fundação para a Tecnologia e Ciência de Portugal (FCT), a Master in Management and Development in Tourism (2004) and a Degree in Management and Planning in Tourism (2002) from the University of Aveiro. Developed research activities in the RPTM PennState University, PA, USA (2009), at the the University of Siena in Italy (2010) and University of California, Berkeley, USA (2011). Her current research interests include astrotourism, cultural tourism, consumer behavior in tourism and sustainable tourism development in rural destinations. Her papers have been published at Journal of Vacation Marketing, European Countryside, International Journal of Tourism Research, Tourism Analysis and Anatolia.
