Pedro Lourenço holds a PhD in Political Science from the Universities of Aveiro and Beira Interior (2024). He is currently an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Beira Interior and a Researcher at the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP-University of Aveiro). He previously earned a MA in Political Science (University of Aveiro, 2017), a BA in Political Science (University of Minho, 2015) and an MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences (University of Porto, 2009).
In 2021, Pedro was a visiting postgraduate research student at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh, where he later served as a tutor (2022-2023).
His primary research interests include European politics, political parties, and the radical left. He has published in academic journals such as Government and Opposition, Swiss Political Science Review, and Mediterranean Politics.
He has recently concluded his PhD dissertation, entitled "European radical left parties: programmatic change since the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989-2021)".
