Emily Santos is a PhD student in Public Policy at the University of Aveiro and member of the Research Unit in Governance Competitiveness and Public Policies.

She is currently conducting research for her PhD thesis on the contribution of NGOs in the creation and implementation of public policies to protect the ocean.

She was a former project manager about Responsible Tourism in the Costa dos Corais MPA, in Brazil. She has been involved in Ocean Literacy workshops and is also member of the ECOP Programme for the Ocean Decade, of UNESCO.
