Jorge Humberto Fernandes Mota holds a Ph.D. in Management, specialization in Finance at the Faculty of Economics of Oporto University (Exchange Visiting Phd Student/Research Fellow at the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business, Norman, Oklahoma, in 2011) under the subject “Three Essays in Internal Capital Markets” and a master’s degree in Accounting and Auditing from the University of Aveiro. Jorge is a researcher at the Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy research unit at the University of Aveiro, and Associate Researcher at CICEE - Research Center in Business and Economics, UAL. Its research and publishing areas involve Corporate Diversification, Corporate Finance (Capital Structure, Investment, Firm Boundaries, Internal Capital Markets, Firm Performance), Management Control (Earnings Management, Corporate Governance). He is director of the master’s degree in Management, member of the Executive Committee of the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism (DEGEIT), University of Aveiro, responsible for the Area of Management for Curricular Internships and member of the Alumni Network Committee of DEGEIT for the Management area. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering, and Tourism (DEGEIT), University of Aveiro, Portugal, where he has been lecturing courses in the following areas at the level of bachelor's, master's and doctorate: Evaluation and Project Management, Empirical Research in Finance, Financial Management, and Quantitative Methods in Management (especially to the master’s and PhD in management courses). He published books, proceedings of conferences and articles in international journals in the field of Management and Economics, e.g., International Journal of Project Management, Heliyon, Journal of Strategy and Management, Baltic Journal of Management, Cogent Business and Management, Asia Pacific Management Review, International Journal of Wine Business Research, Journal of Risk and Financial Management, Portuguese Economic Journal, Polish Journal of Management Studies, South African Journal of Business Management, Energy Policy, International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy. Throughout his academic career, he has been involved in Doctoral (2) and Master's (35) completed supervisions. He has a solid working experience as a consultant in the financial, management control and strategic management (evaluation of investment projects, business valuation, implementation of control management tools - Balanced Scorecard) areas, e.g., within the wine industry. He was financial and commercial director of two Portuguese firms in the construction and retailing fields. Jorge has participation in activities for the enhancement of DEGEIT – UA, such as: involvement in institutional collaboration between the University of Aveiro – DEGEIT, and the Federal Fluminense University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, within the framework of the International Module 2018 - UFF, in the Course Unit of Business Model Design Process, taught in Aveiro from September 3 to 7, 2018; participation in institutional collaboration between the University of Aveiro – DEGEIT, and UniLúrio University in Pemba, Mozambique, within the framework of the Master's in Management of Organizations and Corporate Responsibility, in the Course Unit of Management Supplements and Instruments, taught from July 16 to 24, 2017; participation in institutional collaboration between the University of Aveiro – DEGEIT, and the Federal Fluminense University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, within the framework of the International Module 2016 - UFF, in the Course Unit of Project Management, taught in Aveiro from September 5 to 9, 2016.
