Vânia Costa is Professor of School of Hospitality and Tourism of Polytechnic University of Cávado and Ave (Barcelos, Portugal). She is Head of the Department of Tourism and Marketing, since 2020. Post-doctoral in Tourism and Advanced Training Course in Tourism at the University of Aveiro. PhD in Economics from the University of Vigo, with the thesis “Regional Portuguese Airports, Local Economy and Tourism Development”, a MSc in Industrial Economics and Business from University of Minho and a degree in Economics from University of Minho.
She is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation. She is full researcher at CiTUR - Centre for Research, Development, and Innovation in Tourism, collaborating researcher of UNIAG - Applied Management Research Unit and collaborating researcher of GOVCOPP - Research Unit in Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (University of Aveiro). She has participated in several research projects funded by the European Commission and FCT (Portuguese public agency that supports science, technology, and innovation). Coordinator of the “Profile and Trends of Human Capital in the Tourism Sector" project and she is currently IR of the project TalentTOUR – “Talent Management in the Tourism and Hospitality Sector” and part of the research team of the project CEGaS – “Circular Economy for Sustainable Gastronomy: Diagnosis and adoption of good practices in the restaurant sector”, both funded by CiTUR, trough FCT/MCTES. Her main research interests are related to Tourism Research, Tourism and Economic Development, Investment Projects in Tourism, Competitiveness and Corporate Finance of Hospitality and Tourism, Human Capital in Tourism, Health and Wellness Tourism and Transports.
