Cristina Barroco has a PhD in Tourism from the University of Aveiro, a MSc degree in Management from ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon, a BSc in Tourism from Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra and an Associate Degree in Tourism from Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. She started her professional activity in Grupo Visabeira in 1995 in the Tourism sector. She has been an Associate Professor at Polytechnic Institute of Viseu - Higher School of Technology and Management, since 2000 and is the head of the Tourism Management Master Degree. She has been Lecturer of the Tourism BSc degree, Marketing BSc degree and Tourism Management MSc degree. She has also been Lecturer of the Tourism International Semester Spring and Fall (for Erasmus students). She is effective member of CISED – Centre for Research in Digital Services. She is also member of CITUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation and GOVCOPP – Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (University of Aveiro). She has participated as a speaker and as a member of scientific committees in several tourism conferences. Her research focuses on tourism economics, foreign direct investment, new tourism products, Equestrian Tourism, Food and Wine Tourism and Health and Spa Tourism.
