Carlos Rodrigues is Associate Professor at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He holds a PhD in Social Sciences and develops his research activity in the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (GOVCOPP). Carlos carries out research on territorial innovation systems, focusing on the triple helix dynamics affecting socioeconomic development and on the role science, technology and innovation policy plays in the configuration of innovation systems. His scientific interests embrace also Food systems planning, planning theory and practice and Asian studies (EU-China relations, ST&I policy). Carlos has participated in several national and international R&D projects and has a long experience in providing services to many public and private non-academic entities. He has published in several international journals of reference in the area, both as authior and co-author. He teaches courses in the areas of territorial innovation systems, science and technology policy, planning theory and Asian studies. Carlos was the head of the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences between 2015 and 2024. He is also the coordinator of the Center for Asian Studies and the Master in Chinese Studies of the University of Aveiro.
