Patrícia Silva holds a PhD in Political Sciences. She is an assistant professor at the University of Aveiro and a researcher at the Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies Research Centre (GOVCOPP) of the University of Aveiro, where she has developed research work on political parties, the politicisation of recruitment of appointed elites, public administration, and local governance. She has been involved in several research projects and has published articles in journals including International Review of Administrative Sciences, Public Administration, European Politics and Society. She has also participated in a number of international and national competitively-funded research projects. Se was the co-coordinator of the competitively funded "Decentralized Territorial Governance: coordination, capacity and accountability of governance arrangements in complex regional settings" research project. She was also a local coordinator of the Project "Political Participation of Portuguese Youth", financed by the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian; and Principal Investigator of the Project "C2P2 - Continuity and Change in Portuguese Public Policies (1975-2020)", financed by the Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos. She is a member of the Management Committee of the COST Action "Comparative Research on the Executive Triangle in Europe¿ (CoREx)". She has been a member of the team that prepares the Eurobarometer Report for the Portuguese Representation of the European Commission since 2009. She was granted a Scientific Employment Stimulus Contract by the Foundation for Science and Technology (grant number CEECIND/04550/2017). Since 2021, she is a member of the Executive Board of the Portuguese Association for Political Science (APCP) and she was appointed Secretary of the Research Committee on Political Elites (of the International Political Science Association, IPSA) in 2023.
