Currently is working as Special Advisor to the State Secretary for Tourism in the Ministry of Economics and Digital Transformation. It is Assistant Professor at University of Aveiro since 2003. Has worked for the XXI Portuguese Government, being Special Advisor to the Secretary of State for Industry in 2018. Since may 2018 she is member, as na Individual expert appointed in his/her personal capacity, of the Strategic Forum for Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), that should provide the Commission with advice and expertise to build a common Union vision on the key value chains for Europe and facilitate agreements to take forward new joint investments in those key value chains. In may 2018 was appointed member (co-president) of the Coordination Group for the Portuguese Circular Economy Action Plan, in representation of the Portuguese Ministry of Economy. She holds a PhD in Economics (2002) and an Msc In International Business and Economic Integration (1996) from the University of Reading (UK). Holds Licenciatura in Economics from University of Évora (1995). At the University of Aveiro she has been director or vice-director of several programes, such as vice-director of the PHD in Economics and Management Sciences, director of the Economics Master Programme and of the Economics degree, as well as vice-coordinator of the Research Line Competitiveness, Innovation and Sustainability from the Research Unit, GOVCOPP, among others. She has published a number of books and papers in international journals in fields related to Dynamics of firms, industries and regions. During her career participated in several projects at national na International level.
