Alberto J. Costa holds a PhD in Accounting from the joint doctoral program between the University of Aveiro and the University of Minho, Master in Business Sciences (with a specialization in Accounting) from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto and a Degree in Accounting and Auditing from ISCA-UA.
He is a Coordinating Professor at ISCA-UA (University of Aveiro), and Full Researcher at GOVCOPP (Research Unit in Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy), in the research group on Decision Support Systems.
He has been Head of the Master in Accounting and Management Control (ISCA-UA) since 2019 and has been part of several working committees at ISCA-UA, with emphasis on the Scientific Committee of the Master in Accounting (from 2008 to 2010), being Deputy Director of the Master's Course in Accounting at ISCA-UA – Taxation Branch, in the same period. He has also been one of the leading organizers of the SCIENTIA Seminar.
He has supervised and co-supervised Doctoral Theses and Master's Dissertations, some of which have been presented at national and international conferences, having given rise to publications in specialized journals.
He develops research in the area of ​​Financial Accounting and, particularly, in the area of ​​Accounting and Business Ethics and in the area of ​​Management Accounting. He has published papers in national and international journals and is a regular reviewer of scientific journals, scientific events and book chapters. He was also editor of two books in the field of Accounting Ethics Education for Routledge Publishing.
He has been a member of GRUDIS – Portuguese Accounting Research Network, since 2006.
He has been a Certified Accountant since 1997 and has already been a guest trainer of the Certified Accountants Association (OCC) and organizer of training courses for the same entity, in the area of ​​Ethics and Deontology.
